If you are a candidate or member of BAP, you need to participate in at least two Beta Alpha Psi community service events each semester in order to remain a member in good standing. Community service events will be announced throughout the semester, so look out for those announcements and sign ups in your email!
Types of Community Service
Accounting focused
These are events that BAP are hosting and we will need extra help with! For example, Meet the Firms or the Case Competition are two great events to volunteer for.
Tutoring
Each semester BAP will hold tutoring sessions for lower-level accounting classes. The dates and times for these sessions will already be determined and the only requirement is that you have taken and passed the class that we will be tutoring for!
Community focused
One of the main focuses of BAP is to give back to the community, and within our chapter there will be opportunities to connect with our local community each semester. Some activities we've done in the past included writing holiday cards to Bishop Place residents, making tie blankets for the animal shelter, and hosting a food drive outside Walmart.
Please contact Tanner Giesy, our VP of Service, if you have any further questions at tanner.giesy@wsu.edu.
In March 2024, students went to Walmart from 12pm-3pm to stand with carts and ask members of the Pullman community for non-perishable food items for the Community Action Center. Together, we received 261 lbs. of food! We thank the Pullman community for their donations and the BAP Volunteers for helping with this event!
